Please join Hope Street Group on October 26 from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. at the National Press Club for a unique event, "Policy 2.0: Using Open Innovation to Reform Teacher Evaluation Systems." This event will highlight how we used our collaborative beta platform, Policy 2.0, to bring together an online policy team and created a different pathway to policy development for teacher evaluation systems.

As a country, we spend $400 billion a year on salaries and benefits in education, but we do not really know how teachers are doing or how we can help them do better.  Now is the time to ensure that our nation is maximizing its investment in the teaching workforce, creating opportunities for constructive feedback and targeting professional development to teachers who can improve.

Demonstrating the depth of talent that online policy collaboration can tap outside of government, Hope Street Group’s policy team members include educators, business professionals, policy analysts and academic researchers from 17 states.

Hope Street Group is one of the first organizations to take this innovative approach of leveraging technology to enhance civic participation in the policy development arena. Policy 2.0 allows for diverse groups of professionals to convene and participate in creating policy solutions based on evidence and best practices that have the potential to impact legislation and beyond.

Come be one of the first to witness the power of Policy 2.0 and hear the group's recommendations presented to a panel of education experts including Deborah Gist, Commissioner of Elementary and Secondary Education of Rhode Island; William Hite, Superintendent of Prince George’s County of Public Schools; Jennifer Mulhern, Policy Partner and Co-Author of The Widget Effect of The New Teacher Project; Rob Weil, Deputy Director of Educational Issues, American Federation of Teachers and moderated by Andy Rotherham, Co-Founder and Publisher of Education Sector.

You will also hear about Hope Street Group and its contributors' plan to continue their work and engage with states, districts, and schools across the country to pilot these recommendations in at least ten different systems.

We look forward to seeing you there!
