Washington DC – February 11, 2009 – The bipartisan policy organization Hope Street Group today released an analysis (.pdf) highlighting the importance of the education reform measures in the House and Senate versions of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA)."We know what we need to build a true 21st century education system," said Executive Director Monique Nadeau. "And this package has the potential to jumpstart that effort."
The report examines the ways in which the two versions address reform, accountability, and innovation – the core of Hope Street Group's education platform.
Included in the proposals are measures that address data systems, equity in teacher distribution, and better standards and assessments.
"It's critical we do not miss this unparalleled opportunity to couple investment and reform," Ms. Nadeau said.
