On May 3, 2010 we will be hosting our first Bipartisan Working Group Dinner on Reinventing Primary Care. This dinner will be a “roll-your-sleeves-up” type session that brings to bear the tremendous knowledge base of our advisers to problem solve with project team leaders and devise credible paths of implementation for the Reinventing Primary Care Project.
We’re opening up an opportunity to all of our Policy 2.0 members to post a question that our Executive Director, Monique Nadeau will pose to the group. With that in mind, what would you ask a major player in health care reform about Primary Care?
You post, we'll ask, and then repost the responses.
To Get You Started:
What are the three most important things that need to be done so that primary care is better able to intervene early to prevent the progression of chronic disease?
What is needed to better equip primary care so that it can make a real impact on preventing unnecessary Emergency Department presentations?
What can be done to ensure that health care reform doesn't add layers and confusion to the already frustrating process of securing payment for health care services?
How can health care reform become a source of empowerment for primary care physicians-- leading to less paperwork and more time with patients as well as the capacity to form a closer doctor-patient relationship?
What are YOU willing to give up to reform primary care?
(For instance: Are you willing to give up control to share decisionmaking? Are you willing to give up $$$ for increased premiums? Are you willing to give up $$$ in compensation?)
How can we compensate primary care docs for all the work we do outside the patient visit time?
